Machine Operator (Day shift)

You run our filling, mixing and packing machines and keep the production line running, clean and on quality. Day shift in Arnhem, in a factory that gets bigger every quarter.

Start date ASAP, to be discussed
Hours Fulltime, day shift (08:00 to 17:00, no shift work)
Location Arnhem, Nieuwe Kade
Salary €2,800 to €3,100 gross per month, based on experience

Your mission

You keep the machines running. Every bag that leaves the line filled, sealed and labelled right is your work. You operate the line, watch the quality and fix the small stoppages yourself, so the team lead can run the shift instead of the machine.

No leadership and no end responsibility. Clear, hands-on work on the floor, done properly.

About Sybotanica

Sybotanica is a fast-growing e-commerce company with its own factory and warehouse in Arnhem. We make houseplant soil for plant lovers across Europe, and we are roughly 25 people.

A look inside our factory

Filmed in January 2026 by the Dutch show Over de vloer bij, so the video is in Dutch. One machine is running in it. We are professionalising and automating fast: by the end of 2026 there will be around five, with a largely automated production process.

The team you work in

Around half of our production team has a support indication: a physical limitation, a language barrier or something else that makes finding work harder. That is normal here. You will regularly be the one showing a colleague how a machine works, so short, concrete instructions and a bit of patience matter.

What you'll do day to day

  • Start up, set and operate the filling, mixing and packing machines according to fixed work instructions.
  • Keep raw materials fed and the line moving.
  • Quality checks: weight, fill level, seal, label and a clean bag.
  • Fix small stoppages yourself. Bigger ones you escalate to the team lead or the service engineer.
  • Changeovers and basic cleaning between products.
  • Log production counts and checks briefly, so purchasing knows what came off the line.
  • Leave your workplace clean and safe at the end of the shift.

What you bring

  • At least 2 years of experience as a machine operator, in production, packaging, food or a comparable environment.
  • You work accurately and like structure. You follow the work instruction, and improve it when you see a better way.
  • You can fix basic faults and adjust settings, and you know when to call an engineer.
  • Physically fit: standing, walking and lifting are part of the job.
  • Dutch or English, ideally both. Enough to follow instructions and explain a machine to a colleague.
  • You fit a direct, down-to-earth culture where pace and quality both matter.

What you'll earn

€2,800 to €3,100 gross per month on a fulltime basis, depending on your experience.

Benefits and terms

  • Day shift only. No nights, no weekends.
  • Room to grow. A perfect entry role if you want to move up, with the right guidance to get there.
  • A good pension scheme and travel costs covered.
  • Free fruit and free products from our own shop.
  • A Sybotanica event every quarter.
  • Becoming part of an ambitious team with a clear mission.

Our culture

  • Speed. We move fast, we test and we keep improving.
  • Ownership. You treat your part like your own company.
  • Pride. A clean line and neat orders going out the door is a good day.
