94.2% of customers report visibly stronger roots & leaf growth within a few weeks.
You will also notice that watering becomes a lot easier due to having the right soil structure.
It becomes too compact over time, leading to a state where it no longer absorbs water.
That's why we opt for coconut fiber and worm castings, keeping your potting soil delightfully airy and usable for much longer. Much more environmentally friendly in its use & less CO2!

Cutting Soil that stays evenly moist, breathes well, and supports quick root initiation, that is exactly what our Coco Coir delivers for propagation, stem cuttings, leaf cuttings, and small plants. This fine textured fibre gives roots consistent moisture without waterlogging, it keeps oxygen moving through the media so tender root tips do not suffocate, and it helps prevent root rot while your new plants establish.
You can pot straight from the bag for water to soil transfers or fresh cuttings, no additives needed. Crafted to our specs at Sybotanica, it balances water holding and porosity so you can focus on timing, hygiene, and gentle care instead of guessing when to water.
Coco coir forms a soft, uniform base that holds moisture evenly around fragile root initials. Coir resists compaction and stays springy as it dries, so even very fine roots can push through. It buffers water availability, which is essential for Cutting Soil during the first weeks when cuttings cannot regulate uptake well.
This is what you want from Cutting Soil, a fine, uniform substrate with reliable moisture, fast gas exchange, and a clean environment that supports quick, healthy rooting. You can step plants up later into a chunkier mix suited to their species once roots fill the plug or starter pot, keeping performance consistent across seasons with Sybotanica quality.
Prepare and place: Take clean cuts with sterilised tools. Remove lower leaves, expose at least one node, and let succulent or thick stem cuttings callus briefly before planting. Insert the cutting so at least one node sits in the Cutting Soil, firm gently to remove large gaps but do not compress the media.
Light: Give bright, indirect light. Soft morning sun is fine, harsh midday sun can overheat a dome or dry the surface too quickly. Keep lights 20 to 40 cm above if you use LEDs, adjust so leaves stay firm and do not bleach.
Humidity and airflow: Maintain high humidity in the first phase using a dome or tent, then crack it open daily for fresh air. Aim for moisture on the media, not dripping condensation. Gentle airflow reduces fungal pressure while the Cutting Soil stays evenly moist.
Watering rhythm: Pre moisten the Coco coir so it feels like a wrung out sponge. After planting, mist the surface if it lightens, avoid soaking the pot. Consistency beats volume, the goal is an even moisture profile that never puddles.
Temperature: Most cuttings root fastest at 20 to 24 °C. Use a heat mat for warmth from below if your room runs cooler, monitor so the media does not dry out faster than expected.
Feeding: Do not fertilise immediately. The cuttings’ roots are very sensitive to burn from heavy fertilising. Once you see new growth, begin a quarter-strength liquid feed every 2 to 3 weeks, such as a gentle indoor plant food formulated for young or sensitive roots. Increase gradually as the plant strengthens.
Transplant timing: Tug gently after 2 to 4 weeks. If the cutting resists, roots are forming. Pot up when you can see roots at drainage holes or when new growth is steady. Move to a species appropriate mix, for example an Alocasia, Ficus, or Aroid blend, and keep watering light for a week while roots adjust.
Hygiene: Clean trays, pots, and tools before every batch. Discard failed material promptly. Avoid reusing media for new cuttings, and keep the surface free of fallen leaves and other plant material that can invite pests.
Troubleshooting: If leaves yellow from the base, check for overwatering and improve airflow. If tips crisp, raise humidity or reduce light intensity. If stems blacken at the node, cut back to healthy tissue, let callus, then replant in fresh Cutting Soil at a slightly drier moisture level.
By keeping the media uniform, the moisture predictable, and the environment clean and bright, you give your cuttings the calm conditions they need to transition into strong, self-sufficient plants.
