Description

This DIY moss pole kit has everything you need to make your own Sphagnum Moss pole! Huge lush leaves & large epiphytic roots are only a few clicks away. This moss pole will become an extension of your pot & increase the total volume where the roots can grow, which will make the leaves A LOT bigger A LOT quicker.

Including:
- 36L net of Sphagnum Moss
- 250cm x 51cm garden fence
- Biobased tye wraps

You can either make one very large moss pole of 250cm, ~15x poles of 50cm (~5cm diameter) or ~10x poles of 50cm (~9cm diameter). (or whatever size you prefer) These moss poles are also easily attachable to each other by using the tye wraps and/or a bamboo stick

The garden fence has holes of 12.7x12.7mm which is large enough for epiphytic roots to root through, but small enough for Sphagnum Moss not to fall out.

Tip! Use the green wire that holds the garden fence together to attach any climbing plants to the pole. Do remove it after the plant has rooted into the pole as it can cut into the stem over time.

Can I put Aroid Mix or other substrates in the pole?
You can! We have done a few experiments with this, one important note is that it does dry out really quickly with only soil in there. This will make it harder for the epiphytic plants to root into the moss pole (which is the main benefit of such a pole). So we do recommend Sphagnum Moss.

Is this kit sustainable?
The moss is harvested on a sustainable schedule from The Netherlands, with a very short supply chain, directly from the farm to our warehouse! The tye wraps are biobased! The garden fence isn't sustainable per se, but we haven't found a great alternative yet. Do make sure to re-use it if you remove the pole!

Check out this guide if you want any pointers on how to build your own moss pole.

Socially responsible production

At Sybotanica HQ, our mission extends beyond just making plants happy – we strive to bring joy to people's lives as well. Within our production team, we exclusively hire individuals who have faced challenges in the workforce, offering them support in their journey towards reintegration into working life.

One shining example is Peter. He has been a part of Sybotanica since the start and has recently been promoted to the position of Head of Production. From being the company's first employee, he now leads a team of five production workers.

Peter's accomplishments are even more remarkable considering that he faces a significant visual impairment, with only 10% visibility. 🕶️ Through minor adjustments to his work environment, Peter is able to perform at 100% capacity.

Having experienced two company relocations, Peter possesses an unparalleled understanding of Sybotanica's operations. He can even discern between the 16 different soil mixes by touch alone – a testament to his dedication and skill.

We have full confidence that Peter will continue to excel in keeping our production processes running smoothly in the years to come! 💪
