SYBAStones Houseplant Mineral Mix Is the Cleanest Way to Grow Happy, Healthy Plants
Say goodbye to soggy soil, fungus gnats, and compacted roots. SYBAStones Houseplant Mineral Mix is a peat-free, soilless substrate developed for strong root growth, stable moisture, and long-lasting structure—no breakdown, no pests, no stress. With 180 days of slow-release tropical fertiliser already mixed in, it’s the easiest upgrade for lush, thriving foliage.
Built on a base of lava rock, pumice, and zeolite, this mix supports everything from leafy aroids and upright Calatheas to trailing Pothos and Monstera cuttings. Whether you’re repotting your favourite tropicals or starting fresh with a self-watering setup, this mineral mix delivers the support your plants need to grow stronger and stay pest-free.
Fine or Chunky? You Choose the Structure
SYBAStones Houseplant Mineral Mix comes in two grain sizes so you can match it to your plant’s root system and watering style:
Fine (4–8 mm): Ideal for medium-rooted plants like Calatheas, Philodendrons, Marantas, and Anthuriums that enjoy consistent airflow but also need gentle moisture control.
Chunky (8–16 mm): Perfect for large aroids, mature houseplants, and plants that prefer to dry out a bit more between watering. Chunky grains keep the substrate extra open and reduce the chance of overwatering.
Both versions provide excellent drainage and oxygenation while holding on to just enough moisture to keep roots active and healthy.
Soilless, Pest-Free, and Endlessly Reusable
Traditional potting soil breaks down and compacts, creating the perfect conditions for root rot and fungus gnats. SYBAStones Houseplant Mineral Mix is 100% organic-free, meaning no decaying matter, no mould, and zero fungus gnats—guaranteed.
Pre-fertilised with 180 days of slow-release tropical nutrients
Perfect for use in self-watering or (transparent) drainage-free pots
Ultra-breathable and moisture-stable
No organic matter = no decay, no pests, no mess
Fully reusable—just rinse between uses
This is the future of plant care: mineral-based, smartly structured, and made to last.
Each Mineral Plays a Role in Plant Health
Every component in this mix supports long-term growth and healthier roots:
Lava rock: Anchors the plant while providing trace minerals and weight
Pumice: Improves airflow and drainage, keeping the mix light
Zeolite: Naturally absorbs and releases nutrients and moisture as needed
Tropical slow-release fertiliser: Feeds your plant steadily over 180 days
Together, these ingredients form a stable, airy environment that keeps your plant hydrated—but never waterlogged.
Just Pot It and Forget It (For Six Months)
This mix includes a balanced, plant-safe slow-release fertiliser specifically formulated for tropical houseplants. That means no feeding for the first 180 days—your plants get all the nutrients they need with no extra effort. After that, top up with:
Sybotanica’s slow-release fertiliser range, designed to support your plants through every season
This is clean, low-maintenance indoor gardening at its best.
For Plant Lovers Who Want More From Their Substrate
SYBAStones Houseplant Mineral Mix isn’t just an alternative to potting soil—it’s a smarter foundation for growing. No compaction. No decay. Just structure, airflow, and nutrient support that actually lasts.
Use it in self-watering pots, transparent pots without drainage holes, or even hanging planters. Your plants stay grounded, the roots stay happy, and you stay in control.
To mix yourself, take a scoop or cup and use it to measure out 1 part. Add the above ingredients to the parts and mix thoroughly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this mix natural?
Yes, the SYBAStones Houseplant mix itself is natural. However, the slow-release fertilisers are not. To ensure these fertilisers are of high quality and release nutrients slowly, it is not possible to produce them naturally.
How to use fertilisers for the basic SYBAStones mix?
Both hydroponics fertilisers and slow-release osmocote fertilisers can be used with our SYBAStones mix.
Our other SYBAStones Houseplant already contains fertiliser for up to 6 months, so no extra fertiliser is needed until after 6 months of using the mix.
Is this different from soil care?
Yes, growing in SYBAStones works a bit differently from using regular soil. Watering, fertilising, and transplanting all follow new rules.
It’s a great method, but not every plant is a fan. Always check if your plant is suited for semi-hydro. More info below.
How to transplant from soil to SYBAStones?
Got a cutting grown in water? You can plant it directly into SYBAStones. For soil-grown plants, it's best to remove all old soil before transplanting, especially if you've had fungus gnat issues. Clean roots are key.
Which SYBASupport fertilisers do I use with SYBAStones?
Cactus & Succulent Mix – suitable for cacti and succulents
Orchid Mix – ideal for orchids
Houseplant Mix – great for aroids, Calatheas, Ficus, Alocasias, Marantas, Dieffenbachia, and more
How do I prepare the SYBAStones before use?
Rinse the mix before use. Some dust can form during transport, which is totally normal and easy to wash off.
Are the SYBAStones allergen free?
These mixes are allergen-free thanks to their stone-based composition.
I have mold growing in my pot with SYBAStones!
Noticed a smell or slimy texture after transplanting? A few things could be going on:
The roots were not fully cleaned
The mix is too wet
Some roots are dying from transplant shock
If you're sure the roots were clean or you're using a water cutting, the issue might be from dead plant material. Flush the pot thoroughly to rinse it out.
If the problem continues, inspect the roots. Some plants don't adapt well to mineral substrates and might not make the switch.
You can use a water reservoir pot with your SYBAStones to create a semi hydroponics set up.
Most plants that love moist soils will appreciate this, such as aroids, calatheas, marantha, ficus, dieffenbachia, anthuriums and alocasias.
However for cacti & succulents, and other plants preferring dry soils, this is not recommended as these plants do not appreciate having moist roots all the time. Use a regular pot with drainage holes.

Heel erg blij mee.

I transferred my poinsettia into the mineral mix and pruned it shortly after, and after a short transition period where it looked a bit droopy, it seems to be really thriving now! My succulent leaf propagations are also doing really well in it and have lots of strong roots.
I received an import plant with almost just an aerial roots. I decided to put it on chuncky mineral mix from Sybotanica and Let it sit on a self watering pot. I must say it does what it promise from their website. It is a game changer!!! As you can see on the video it has healthy roots and soon it needs a repotting! If you havent tried it, I recommend you start doing it and you will not regret. 😊😊
I received the plant with almost only aerial roots and I decided to put it on chuncky mineral mix from Sybotanica and have it in a self watering pot and jupiiii now plants has healthy roots and soon need a repotting.
